Tiffany Haddish – Rave of the moment, comedy sensation and new girl next door/ everyone’s buddy, attended the Oscars in her famous Alexander McQueen dress which she previously wore for the premiere of her movie “Girls Trip”.
She had the same dress on when she hosted Saturday Night Live in November 2017 and joked about getting her money’s worth while delivering her SNL monologue, stating that she would repeat the dress on another red carpet event; so the the third charm was for her presentation at the 2018 Oscars.
As Haddish explained on SNL (where she made history as the first black female comedian to ever host the show, by the way), the $4,000 gown, which she wore to the Girl’s Trip red carpet in July 2017, cost more than her mortgage—it’s only right that she re-wear it for special occasions. True to her word, Haddish chose to wear the halter-top dress once again to hand out the Oscar for Best Animated/Live Action Short with Maya Rudolph at the 2018 Academy Awards. Aside from delivering a hilarious commentary on Oscars-So-White with Rudolph, Haddish also made headlines at the Oscars for curtseying before Meryl Streep, as one does, and asking the legendary actress to play her mother in the sequel to Girls Trip.
Haddish had reportedly said on SNL: “I feel like I should be able to wear what I want, when I want, however many times I want, as long as I Febreze it”. This comes as a fresh breath of air and may possibly serve as an example for fans the world over who are given to the pressure of social media not to repeat apparels in public after it’s worn, what do you think?
