Sarr was raised in Senegal but studied in Montreal, Canada. She graduated from the HEC Montreal with a bachelor’s degree in 1992, and after a period of further study at the University of Bedfordshire in Britain, graduated with a Master of Business Administration in 2002. Sarr spent ten years at the International Finance Corporation, a member institution of the World Bank Group, prior to joining the United Nations. She also worked as a Senior Auditor with Ernst & Young Senegal.
Sarr is a founding member and Gender Champion of Africa2.0, a Pan-African Civil Society Organization that consists of young and emerging leaders from Africa who promote development on the continent, and is a member of the Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards for Sub Saharan Africa.UN Women is very pleased to announce the appointment of OulimataSarr as The Deputy Regional Director for West & Central Africa. With over 25 years’ experience in finance and development, Oulimata served as the Regional Advisor on Women Economic Empowerment for West & Central Africa until March 2018.
